The Roman Road
There is a simple tool that has been used for decades to help people make the decision to follow Christ. It is called "The Roman Road". This is basically four passages in the book of Romans in the Bible that lay out the truth about salvation.
Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned; all fall short of God's glorious standard. (NLT)*
When we are born we are born into a world of sin. We come out of the womb as a fallen person because of Adam and Eve's deception in the Garden of Eden. Not one person will ever make it to Heaven on their own because "God's glorious standard" is perfection and none of us can ever do that on our own.
Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (NLT)*
We are all sinners and the cost of that sin is death. There is a way out though. God gave us a "free gift" of eternal life by way of what Jesus did on the cross for everyone. He did this freely and willingly to save us from that horrible fate.
Romans 5:8 - But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (NLT)*
God loves us so much that he gave us a way out. He sent his son Christ Jesus to pay the price for our sins and set us free from the bonds of death. We don't have to pay the price of death anymore, Jesus did it for us.
Romans 10:8-10 - 8 Salvation that comes from trusting Christ - which is the message we preach - is already within easy reach. In fact, the Scriptures say, "The message is close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart." 9 For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. (NLT)*
Jesus came to earth, lived a perfect life, died on a cross for our sins, and three days later rose from the dead having paid the price for everyone who would just believe. It is as simple as believing in your heart and saying it with your mouth and you will be saved. It is not complicated and it is free.

Father God I know that I am a sinner and that I need your help. I believe in my heart that Jesus' death and ressurection cover my sins and give me forgiveness. I trust in Jesus alone as my Lord and Saviour. Thank you Lord for forgiving me and saving me. Amen!
