Festival Safety

Several things to keep in mind while attending Cornerstone Festival...

- Don't leave your valuables out in plain site. Even though Cornerstone is a Christian festival, not everyone there will be a Christian, and Christians make bad choices too. Keep these items locked in your vehicle or at the very least in your tent and out of site.

- Don't get into a vehicle or the tent of someone you don't know. It's not wise, especially for women and younger people.

- Meeting your neighbors is not only a great way to make new friends but also a good way for all of you to keep an eye on each others things.

- Whenever possible, the buddy system is a good idea. You may have a long walk back to camp at the end of the night and being safe will make your festival experience much more enjoyable.

- People walk through camp sites all the time and in the begining of the week they even drive through them so make sure your site can be seen. If you are camping by yourself or you have a small tent you may want to consider setting up your camp behind your vehicle and away from the road. Some people use caution tape to mark out their sites and others use orange construction fencing. Use common sense when setting up camp.

- Open fires are not allowed on the grounds. There is a lot of dry grass and other combustible materials that could prove deadly if a fire started. Keep the fires contained to the grills and camp stoves.

- Fireworks are not permitted at Cornerstone. Don't bring them and don't set them off. There are too many ways for this to end badly to play around (see #6). If you see someone with fireworks let security know so it can be taken care of, to keep everyone safe.

- If you are taking a large group or a youth group you may want to have check-in times to make sure that everyone is safe and accounted for.

- Weapons are not allowed at Cornerstone. Including AirSoft BB guns (we learned this the hard way). Don't bring them because you may be asked to leave the festival and security may confiscate them also. If you see someone with a weapon let security know so they can deal with it, don't try to be a hero.
